This 60 + 5 hour Zoom class covers the basics of interpreting in the medical field and mental health settings, using the four modes (consecutive, simultaneous, sight translations, summarization). It covers interpreter ethics, culture brokering; basic understanding of the human body, medical terminology, illnesses and disorders, symptoms, diagnostic tools, types of treatments; techniques to assist in managing the interpreting session and difficult situations; techniques in interpreting in-person, telephonic and video; managing your independent interpreter subcontracting business. Fifteen Sessions: Four hours each session on Zoom. Students are required to participate at all sessions. If they have a problem and cannot attend a session, they must schedule with the instructors to view the class which will be recorded and follow up with instructors after they have viewed it.

Tuition: $750 USA dollars — ($700 if paid in full by the first week of class.)

If student pays in installments: $250 due by each of the following dates: May 9, May 23, June 13. Other options available upon request. Payments can be made by check, credit card, PayPal, Venmo, CashApp

The class will be on Zoom and run four hours a day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Eastern U.S. time) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All classes are recorded for those students who need additional review or who have a legitimate reason for missing a class.
